When we think of a fairy tale wedding in Hawaii, this image definitely comes to mind. Our recent bride wore a gorgeous wedding dress with a full flowy ballgown type skirt. We chose this location with lush greenery and a thick bamboo forest for the newly married couple’s Day After Session aka Trash the Dress Session. But, don’t worry, that’s just a name, that dress was not damaged! We really are loving the lighting of this photo. The bride seems to be glowing among the darkness of the bamboo. The bride’s floral headpiece also really adds to the ethereal and fairy tale feeling of this photo.

As Hawaii wedding photographers, we love to capture the undeniable beauty of the islands. Crystal clear blue water, sugary sandy beaches, deep blue skies, swaying palms. These all make for a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding in Hawaii. While we usually find ourselves among all of the tropical beauty of Hawaii, we sometimes get a chance to change it up a bit and seek out more of an urban or modern setting for portraits. Our team stumbled upon these building ruins that happened to have a gorgeous antique style red piano inside. We were instantly inspired! Our team of photographers were drawn to the contrast between the graffiti and classic piano, as well as the banyan roots creeping in through the windows. Here is one of our favorite wedding photos from this Oahu wedding.

We recently posted an engagement session from one of our couples and we are excited to share this Trash the Dress wedding video we filmed on Oahu’s north shore.
A wonderful couple, Shave Ice, beautiful beaches, an amazing sunset, and even Turtles! What more could we ask for! Enjoy!

We couldn’t wait any longer to share these Hawaii Trash the Dress photos with you all. We had such a wonderful time with this awesome bride and groom as we all weathered the wind, rain, and breaking waves to get the shot. Many couples like to have “day after photos” or “post-wedding photos,” but this couple was down to actually trash the dress! They climbed down rocky shores, got splashed with waves, rolled around in the sandy shore and finally ended the Trash the Dress session with some fun with spray paint!

Trash the dress photos are definitely a favorite of ours. These post wedding photo sessions are more relaxing and with limitless possibilities compared to wedding portraits during the hustle and bustle of the big day. We also love trash the dress sessions because we get to travel to fun locations, like this beautiful spot out on the sandbar on Oahu. We get a chance to really hang out with our couples and have a good time getting creative and letting them be themselves on camera. This couple was the perfect fit for a trash the dress session at the sandbar. They love water and were great at being playful in front of the camera. They even brought out their own stand up surfboards for the trash the dress photos. The boards came in handy too as we trekked all of our gear out to this tiny strip of sand out in the ocean!

We love our “jobs.” I tell people all the time that, while it’s by no means an easy job, being a wedding photographer is the most rewarding and exciting profession I’ve ever been in. We get to work with some of the most amazing people on one of the greatest days of their lives – and we get to do it in some of the most beautiful places on earth!
We wanted to give a glance into the behind the scenes of a fun day in the life of a L’Amour photographer. This day we were shooting a Trash the Dress session on the breathtaking sandbar off of Kaneohe in Oahu.
For this Trash the Dress session, we threw a couple Stand-Up Paddle Boards, some dive equipment, and our camera gear in a boat with the adventurous couple and headed out. About ten minutes off shore we arrived at the amazing remote tropical location seen below.

We started the Trash the Dress session above the water before we really jumped in. For this one, Eric strapped on some SCUBA gear and headed under while John did quick dives and helped the bride and groom. The crystal clear waters in Hawaii really make the colors pop!

We took the opportunity to grab a few shots of the photographers of the day. I’m not sure if you can tell, but we take ourselves extremely seriously… Meet (from left to right) Eric, Wendy, and John.

I said it before and I’ll say it again – we love our jobs.

As promised earlier in our Hawaii Trash the Dress shoot teaser, here are more photos from L’Amour Photography’s recent Trash the Dress shoot!
Many people ask us, “What is a Trash the Dress shoot?’ I was trying to think of an eloquent answer, something more than “a no-boundaries, day after shoot where the bride and groom don’t have to worry about wrinkles, getting wet, sandy or dirty.” However, in lieu of a more articulate definition, here are some examples of Trash the Dress photos at the beach, on the rocks, and in a fountain! Simply put, just a fun day at the beach playing in the water!
