A little good luck on your wedding day

As your wedding day approaches, I’m sure everyone is giving you advice on how to have a long and happy marriage. My father passed down his wisdom to Eric on our wedding day. The key to a happy marriage, “Yes, dear. I’m sorry, you are right.” Now, we all know it takes dedication, good communication, trust…I could go on and on.

But hey, what about a little good luck? One of our recent brides wore this garter belt with a little silver horseshoe for added luck in love and marriage. A little added good luck on your wedding day couldn’t hurt!

Who couldnt'd use a little good luck in life and marriage. We loved this horse shoe garter belt.

It’s the little things that count!

I love taking pictures of all of the intricate details that brides spend their whole lives dreaming of and months finding! A grandmother’s ring, a beautifully arranged bouquet, an embroidered handkerchief…or in this case, shoes that have something to say.

I loved these beach wedding sandals from a recent wedding we shot. These are perfect for weddings on lawns, tall brides, walking on the beach, and dancing the night away. These sandals are from Faith.

These beach wedding sandals have a message. You've gotta have faith!

Destination Wedding Do’s and Don’ts: #5 Do stay cool and hydrated

Get a little help from your friends! In Oahu its can get pretty warm and humid, especially in a wedding dress or a suit! Don’t risk overheating, ask your bridesmaids to help cool you off. Hannah’s bridesmaids used their cute fans to get the air flowing under the multi-layered wedding dress.

The Moana Surfrider provided the wedding party with an ice-cold water dispenser which became a popular hang out area during the portrait session on the Diamond Lawn.

Bridesmaids help cool the bride with fans. Ice cold water is a must have for tropical destination weddings.

Destination Wedding Do’s and Don’ts: #14 Make sure your beauty tools are compatible at your destination

If you are having a destination wedding, make sure your essential beauty gear is adaptable to that locations power outlets. Look into this before your wedding to make sure you don’t get a rude awakening during your wedding preparations. Hannah made sure to avoid frizzy hair that can creep up on brides in Hawaii and other humid, tropical destinations. Hannah was a well-prepared bride and bought this Good Hair Day flat iron after finding out her favorite tools from the United Kingdom were not going to work in Hawaii.

This GHD flat iron was like a 4th bridesmaid to Hannah and the other ladies! Eric and I made sure we took a good portrait of it!

Have a good hair day. Make sure your beauty tools are compatible for your destination wedding

Get your groom a gift that gives back to you… Cologne !

Buy your soon-to-be husband his favorite cologne (or your favorite) and surprise him with it the night before the wedding. A little cologne can save your groom from those smelly situations that come from 8 hours in a suit or tuxedo (not to mention Oahu heat and humidity, dancing, and nerves!).  If your fiance does not normally wear cologne, we suggest this man’s guide to cologne from Wiki How or this one from Style.com.

Eric and I love going by Sephora and sniffing through the cologne and perfume section. We are always on the prowl for our new favorite scents.

Eric and I both love clean scents with citrusy undertones. These scents are perfect for a wedding on Oahu. My current favorite woman’s perfume is Lacoste Inspiration and Eric’s favorite cologne is L’eau Park Kenzo Pour Homme.

Perfumes that make you crave ice cream? Colognes that make your knees weak? We’d love to hear what your favorite scents are!!!
