This mother and son dance photo was taken at a gorgeous wedding we photographed on Maui. We absolutely loved how fun this mother was and how she was seriously rocking out. This groom and his mother should definitely win some kind of award for best mother-son dance song selection with their choice of Guns & Roses “Sweet Child of Mine.” We hope you all have a great Mother’s Day!
Check out this bouquet toss at a recent destination wedding on Oahu. This striking wedding reception was held at the JW Marriot Ihilani in Ko’olina on Oahu.
Wedding bouquet tosses can be one of the most exciting parts of the wedding reception. You know how competitive girls can be! At my own wedding there was a tiny bit of blood shed between two friends trying to snatch the bouquet out of the air. One could definitely describe some bouquet tosses as a full contact sport! This one, however, was impressive because of the height this Hawaii wedding guest gained in her successful attempt to catch the bouquet. This girl has skills!
As Hawaii wedding photographers, we love to capture the undeniable beauty of the islands. Crystal clear blue water, sugary sandy beaches, deep blue skies, swaying palms. These all make for a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding in Hawaii. While we usually find ourselves among all of the tropical beauty of Hawaii, we sometimes get a chance to change it up a bit and seek out more of an urban or modern setting for portraits. Our team stumbled upon these building ruins that happened to have a gorgeous antique style red piano inside. We were instantly inspired! Our team of photographers were drawn to the contrast between the graffiti and classic piano, as well as the banyan roots creeping in through the windows. People often ask if we are available to photograph weddings on any of the Hawaiian islands. The answer is absolutely! As L’amour Photography and Video is an Oahu based wedding photography and video company we serve mainly Oahu wedding. So when we are asked to photograph weddings on Maui, Kauai, or the Big Island we are always excited to spread our wings and fly on over. This Kauai wedding was absolutely gorgeous. We loved so many of this bride and groom’s wedding photos that we decided to do two blogs articles about them! So here is part one! We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed photographing them. This lovely couple’s wedding rehearsal was held on a fun filled catamaran sunset dinner cruise. The bride and groom, along with all of their friends and family sailed along the NaPali Coast of Kauai while sipping cocktails and having dinner. We were lucky enough to get a gorgeous rainbow for a good amount of time. A pod of dolphins followed alongside the boat. This magical night ended with a great view of the Kauai sunset .
The setting for this Hawaii wedding was the Kauai wedding venue, the St. Regis Princeville. The St.Regis Princeville is located on the North Shore of Kauai overlooking the famous Hanalei Bay. Stepping into the lobby for the first time, guest are met with a mix of Hawaiian and sophisticated classic decor with wood accents and tropical flowers. The cascading glass bulb chandeliers are such a striking feature, we found ourselves admiring them more than just once. Conde Nast found was also rather impressed with this spectacular resort and listed the St. Regis on it’s 2011 Gold List among the world’s finest properties.
The bride started her Hawaii wedding day getting her hair and makeup done at the St. Regis’ Halele’a Spa then headed up to her bridal suite to slip on her lace and tulle wedding dress and sweet mint green wedding shoes.
Green and white orchids were accompanied by beautiful succulents in this tropical wedding bouquet with a modern twist. We loved the succulents so much and thought they would make a perfect backdrop for the wedding ring photos. The bridesmaids wore complimentary soft mint green sheath dresses with a coral colored sash.
The groom wore a navy blue suit with a coral colored tie that was patterned with tiny whales while the groomsmen wore light grey suits with mint green plaid ties. The men spent their down time relaxing in the St Regis Bar. I’m sure the bride and bridesmaid who spent hours getting ready were a little envious. We are happy to share with you this gorgeous couple’s Hawaii garden wedding at Haiku Gardens followed by a wedding reception at the adjoining Haleiwa Joe’s restaurant in Kaneohe Hawaii on the windward side of Oahu. If you havent eaten there yet, we highly suggest their Emma’s Poke and Outside Double-Up. Delicious fresh fish and a enormous mai tai are the perfect pair for a Hawaiian cocktail hour. This wedding had a beautiful classically romantic feel with red roses with black and white accents.

We always love getting a chance to know our future bride and grooms better by first shooting their engagement session. Engagement sessions give the couples an opportunity to get used to being in front of the camera and get to know our team members before the wedding day.
This adventurous couple wanted to incorporate their love of the ocean in their photo session by doing some underwater photos. We were lucky to find an area that was fairly sheltered from the waves for this session and found some pretty clear blue water!
We love how the bride-to-be wore a colorful dress that really added a pop of color underwater. Our team had such a great time, we can’t wait until their wedding day!
There is no denying that this gorgeous couple is absolutely in love! The excitement was definitely in the air when we arrived at Haiku Gardens in Kaneohe, Oahu to begin photographing this wedding. This stunningly beautiful bride wore a knock-out mermaid shaped dress with rouching on the bodice and a dramatic flared train. We love how this stylish bride wore a classic pearl necklace and an orchid in her hair to complement her striking wedding dress. More and more of our Hawaii destination wedding brides have been styling their hair with a flower, always on the left side signifying that you are now a married woman, in lieu of a wedding veil.

This destination wedding couple had their wedding ceremony in the open air Tahitian Chapel at Haiku Gardens followed by an intimate dinner with their guests at Haleiwa Joe’s Restaurant at the same location in Kaneohe on Oahu. If you have never been to Haleiwa Joe’s for dinner or their popular Sunday Brunch, you really have to! Ridiculously large mai tais, the best prime rib we have ever had on Hawaii, delicious local favorites like edamame and ahi poke, and an array of locally caught fresh fish plates are just some of the reasons we always make it a point to bring our visiting friends and family members here. Aside from the food, just checkout that view! Simply breathtaking!

We have just returned from shooting a fun filled wedding on the beautiful Caribbean island of St Maarten and couldn’t wait to share a sneak peek with you all! This tiny island is known for its crystal clear teal waters, friendly people, wonderful food and the beachfront St Maarten Airport (SXM) landing strip. As the sun was setting on this bride and grooms destination wedding, we were lucky enough to be graced with the presence of an incoming plane! With the roar of jet engines preparing for take off and planes flying right over our heads, this was definitely the most thrilling sunset shoot we have ever done.

Blue skies, calm water, a clear view of the Ko’olau Mountain range, two gorgeous newly-engaged love birds and one handsome puppy all add up to a perfect recipe for a great Engagement Session and some fun underwater photos too!
This soon-to-be husband and wife wanted to have an engagement session that incorporated their love of their dog, stand up surfing and Hawaii. Now this is our idea of a perfect day at work! Living and doing wedding photography on Hawaii definitely has its perks! We can’t wait to photograph this couple’s Hawaii wedding this summer on Oahu.
This beautiful couple enjoyed a wedding day with classic elegance and a unique setting. We started off with the bridal preparation of hair and makeup at the beautiful Kahala Hotel. The bride wore a lace empire waist Monique Lhuillier dress, silver Manolo Blanik heels, with family heirloom jewelry creating a class yet contemporary look for her big day. Vintage style broaches and strands of crystals added sparkle to her bouquet of white calla lilies.
This Hawaii Wedding Ceremony was held on a beautiful yacht as the guests toured the waters right outside of Waikiki Beach on Oahu. Diamond Head was a great backdrop for this ceremony at sea as the bride and groom exchanged vows and sealed them with a kiss. Thank goodness for small waves that day. As we found out, it is extra challenging to photograph a wedding ceremony while the venue is rocking!
The wedding reception was held at the exclusive Hawaii Yacht Club where the bride and groom were greeted by their happy guests blowing bubbles as the couple disembarked the yacht and started their night of speeches, dancing, and gourmet cupcakes.
